【2026】Silks Place Yilan Family Stay Complete Guide | Electric Cars, Roast Duck & Run for Your Life — A Yilan Must-Stay

Ask ten parents who've stayed at Yilan family hotels which they'd recommend most, and about eight will answer Silks Place Yilan. Not because it's the cheapest, and not because it has hot springs (it doesn't), but because of that 8th floor Fantacity where kids go absolutely wild. Electric car track, slides, trampoline, Run for Your Life — kids play until they refuse to check out, while parents sit nearby sipping coffee and scrolling their phones. That's daily life at Silks Place.

Add Red House Restaurant's cherry duck (Peking duck) and you have a single hotel solving both kids' energy needs and adults' food cravings.

Silks Place is highly sought-after — for the best prices, check Cool Price Travel's family hotel deals across Taiwan first.

Silks Place Yilan review hero image, depicting the 8th floor Fantacity scene: electric car track, colorful play equipment, excited children's silhouettes, with three large icons on the right marking article highlights: Electric Cars (toy sports car icon), Roast Duck (roast duck icon), Run for Your Life (running figure icon)

TL;DR: Silks Place Yilan is a family hotel that has repeatedly won family-stay awards. Its 8th floor Fantacity has an electric car track, and Red House cherry duck is a Yilan must-eat. Extremely hard to book on weekends — we recommend weekday stays to avoid crowds. For vouchers, check Cool Price Travel's family hotel packages across Taiwan.

Silks Place Yilan | Location, Transportation & Why Families Love It

According to Agoda's 2025 travel trends survey, 34% of travelers planned to travel with family in 2025 (Tromnimedia, 2024). Silks Place Yilan is a hotel aimed squarely at this family travel demand; its official site calls itself an "all-round family travel hotel."

Why Is It So Popular with Families?

Silks Place's family reputation is backed by awards. The awards listed on its official site include the 食尚玩家 (Supertaste) Accommodation Awards "Fun Family Room" (2023-2025) and first place among family hotels in 未來親子's "2025 Families' Favourite Brands." Three core reasons:

  1. The 8th floor open-air plaza is built into Fantacity — floors 8 and 9 are Fantacity-themed floors too, with corridors that double as a children's racing track
  2. "Run for Your Life" large-scale interactive game — adults and kids participate together, an exclusive activity
  3. Shares building with Xingyue Plaza department store — shopping, dining, entertainment all in one

But we have to be honest too: Silks Place's weekend crowds are its biggest downside. Queues for electric cars, packed play areas, restaurant wait times — weekend experiences take a hit. We strongly recommend weekday stays. Weekday Silks Place and weekend Silks Place are practically two different hotels — electric cars available on arrival, no restaurant waits, the whole experience ten times better.

Hotel Location and Transportation

Silks Place is in Yilan city center, sharing the building with Xingyue Plaza department store. Note: it's in Yilan city, not Jiaoxi. If you want hot springs, you'll need a separate trip to Jiaoxi.

  • Driving: Exit National Freeway 5 at Yilan interchange, then follow Dafu Rd and Zhongshan Rd Sec. 5 to Minquan Rd Sec. 2 to reach the hotel. The hotel has indoor parking on basement levels B3 and B4
  • Train: About a 10-minute walk from Yilan Train Station along Guangfu Rd and Jiuchengnan Rd; guests can also reserve the hotel shuttle three days before the check-in date
  • Bus: From Yilan Transfer Station take a taxi, or reserve the hotel shuttle that runs to and from the transfer station and the train station

Location is convenient. Step outside the hotel and you're in a department store and Yilan city center — shopping and dining are no problem.

Family Facilities Complete Review

In 2025, Yilan's 21 scenic areas saw 6.138 million visitors, with the National Center for Traditional Arts Yilan Park leading on 1.035 million (Liberty Times, 2026). Silks Place, located in Yilan city center, pairs perfectly with a Traditional Arts Center itinerary — the classic family route. And the hotel's in-house facilities are the main event.

8th Floor Fantacity | Electric Car Track, Slides

Fantacity sits on the 8th floor's open-air plaza. The moment the elevator doors open, you're surrounded by children's screams — this is normal.

The electric car track is the core facility. The official site describes a figure-8 loop track where kids cruise around in all sorts of name-brand mini supercars and pick up traffic rules along the way — they drive with real flair.

Usage rules:

  • Mini racers are limited to ages 3-8 and 25 kg; slides and the trampoline need age 3+; there is a separate 0-3 toddler zone
  • 🔴 Two opening blocks only: 09:00-11:00 and 15:00-20:30 — it is closed from late morning to mid-afternoon, so plan around it (the open-air plaza closes in rain)
  • Free for hotel guests

Beyond electric cars, the official site lists two giant slides, the Duoduo trampoline, a robot slide, the "Fenghuo Racing King" racing game, and a toddler play area for ages 0-3 (baby walkers and bouncy horses). The whole open-air plaza is designed to let kids burn energy in a safe environment.

We brought our 6-year-old and he spent over an hour on the electric cars alone. Different vehicles, different routes — fresh excitement every time. In the end, we were the ones calling it quits before he was willing to try something else. Silks Place's electric cars are genuinely unmatched — it's not just about having electric cars, it's the track being large enough, enough vehicle variety, and excellent maintenance.

"Run for Your Life" Large-Scale Game Activity

This is Silks Place's killer app. Based on the Japanese variety show "Run for Your Life," it's a large-scale chase game. Staff play the "hunters" while hotel guests hide and dodge capture inside the dimly lit Xingyue Plaza department store before it opens for business (children under 4 cannot sign up, and those aged 12 and under need one adult with them).

⚠️ The official site's "Guest Activities" (房客活動) page currently lists the activity as "蘭城晶英の全員逃走中", with session dates and times as announced on the official site; anyone the hunters haven't caught within 45 minutes gets one free weekday stay voucher for the hotel. The activity name and session times change from period to period, so go by the official "Guest Activities" page or the front-desk notice before you set out.

Why is this activity so popular? Because adults get to play too. Most family facilities are for kids only, with adults watching from the sidelines. But "Run for Your Life" gets the whole family running, hiding, and screaming together. Afterward, the entire family collapses into sleep — the most efficient energy-burning method.

Downside: weekend participation is high and the hotel gets noisy. If you're here for a quiet vacation, Silks Place may not be your best fit.

Facilities and Common Areas Across Floors

Besides the 8th floor Fantacity, Silks Place also has:

  • Indoor temperature-controlled pool (year-round)
  • Outdoor pool (1 April - 31 October)
  • Indoor heated children's splash pool (year-round)
  • Gym and sauna (both 16 and over only)
  • Hydrotherapy area (massage pools, Vichy shower beds, impact pool)

The pool isn't huge but fine for a dip with kids. The gym is good for adults to exercise while kids are at the play facilities.

An indoor play floor seen from above: a red loop kart track with two cars taking most space, a yellow wavy slide, a blue ball pit, a green rope climber and an orange block area.

Deluxe Room vs. Premium Family Room | Room Types and Family Amenities

In 2025, the average room rate for tourist hotels across Taiwan reached NT$4,629, up 2.2% year on year (Mirai Research Institute, 2026). Silks Place's official-site rates are above average — but overall value depends on how much your kids play.

One child: Deluxe Room is sufficient. Child can share the adult bed, or add a crib. Two or more children: upgrade to Premium Family Room.

For family amenities, the official site lists cribs, bottle sterilizers and baby bathtubs; quantities are limited, so reserve in advance.

Birthday Stay Perks

The official site's room offers page does not currently list a birthday package; ask the hotel directly when booking.

If you want to celebrate your child's birthday at Red House Restaurant, the restaurant offers cakes to order, which must be reserved three days before your meal; outside cakes are not allowed in the restaurant.

Dining Guide

In 2025, Taiwanese made an average of 11.65 domestic trips each, spending NT$2,279 per trip (Tourism Administration, MOTC — 2025 Survey of Travel by R.O.C. Citizens, 2026). High travel frequency makes "what to eat" a key factor in return visits — Silks Place's Red House cherry duck is exactly the killer feature that keeps people coming back.

Red House Restaurant | Must-Eat Cherry Duck

Silks Place's cherry duck (Peking duck) is all of Yilan's most famous must-eat dish. This isn't an exaggeration — many people make the trip to Yilan specifically for Red House's duck.

The cherry duck (櫻桃霸王鴨) listed on the official site is served "five ways": a braised duck appetizer platter, cherry duck nigiri sushi, sliced duck rolled in pancakes, a choice of one from three-cup duck bone casserole / shredded duck in lettuce wraps / 夏之櫻, and duck soup stewed with cabbage. One duck made into five dishes — quite the ceremony.

Can two people order it? On weekdays yes, at weekends no. The official Red Lantern booking page states a weekend minimum of one four-person set per table, so two diners cannot order the duck alone at weekends. The hotel does not publish a price, so confirm the current price with the restaurant when you book. Reservations open three months ahead and require a credit card.

Tips for dining at Red House with kids:

  • Book ahead (reserve for both weekend lunch and dinner)
  • When booking online, enter the number of children (aged 0-12) separately
  • Online booking slots: 11:00, 13:30, 15:15, 17:00, 19:30

Buffet | Menu and Opening Hours

Silks Place also has the 蘭城百匯 buffet restaurant, serving Asian, Japanese and Western dishes plus handmade desserts. The official site does not publish buffet prices (call the reservation line at 03-910-1010 for a quote); the dining details it does list:

  • Opening hours: the official site gives regular hours as breakfast 07:00-11:00, with dinner served only on Fridays, weekends and long holidays
  • Children are charged by height: free under 110 cm, child price for 110-140 cm, full price above 140 cm

The buffet is mid-to-upper quality for Yilan, but compared to Taipei five-star hotels there's still a gap. If you're coming mainly for the food, head straight to Red House for the cherry duck.

Is the One-Night-Two-Meals Package Worth It?

The room packages currently listed on the official site's room offers page (for example 「就享住蘭城住房專案」) include the 蘭城百匯 buffet breakfast; we did not see a one-night-two-meals package that includes dinner.

Worth it? Depends on how you choose. For now, both the Red House cherry duck and the buffet dinner have to be booked separately; Red House has a weekend minimum of a four-person set menu, so parties of two are better off going on a weekday.

We recommend asking exactly what meals are included when booking.

How to Buy Vouchers at the Best Price?

In Q1 2026, hotel guests in Taiwan totaled 18.218 million with a room occupancy rate of 53.11%, the third consecutive year of growth (Tourism Administration, 2026). Continued accommodation demand growth means Silks Place is even harder to book on weekends — buying vouchers early to lock in prices prevents shock from last-minute rate hikes.

Birthday / Government Employee Travel Card / Special Deals

The official site's room offers page does not currently list birthday or government employee travel card packages; the 2026 domestic travel subsidy for weekday stays can be used on in-season packages booked online through the official site or by phone, is deducted on site at check-in, and does not apply to accommodation vouchers. PTT, Dcard Online Reviews Summary

In 2025, tourist hotel occupancy rose 3.2 percentage points to 64.2% (Mirai Research Institute, 2026). Market recovery has brought a surge in reviews — here's the latest Silks Place online reputation.

Pros (mentioned by most):

  • Best family facilities in Taiwan — 8th floor Fantacity, kids play until they collapse
  • Electric car track scale and quality are impeccable
  • "Run for Your Life" activity engages the whole family
  • Red House cherry duck is the food ceiling of Yilan
  • Shares building with Xingyue Plaza — shopping right downstairs

Cons (being honest):

  • Weekends nearly impossible to book, prices on the high side
  • Weekend facility queues are severe
  • Not a hot spring hotel — no soaking
  • Some users report average soundproofing
  • PTT users mention room decor is showing its age

Our hands-on review: Silks Place is a hotel that "exists for kids." If your travel goal is making kids happy, it's the best choice. But if you want hot springs, quiet vacations, or brand-new hardware, Evergreen Resort or Green Dance may suit you better.
