Before you plan around Taroko: many trails still haven't reopened since the 3 April 2024 earthquake. The Shakadang Trail is still listed as closed on the park's site, and Swallow Grotto is under repair with no reopening date. Dekalun Trail is fully open (no booking needed), Lyushui Recreation Area has been partly open to Tuoyouen (about 450 m one way) since 3 February 2026, and Jiuqudong runs on a visitor cap. Check the Taroko National Park site before you go.
